Custom HBC offers innovative devices
that deliver various personal care products in a spray form, and offer
salon pros a unique retail sales opportunity.
So what is a Pocket Sprayer, exactly? It’s a unique idea from Custom HBC,
actually. The product contains various personal care products – hairspray,
breath freshener, hand sanitizer, cologne and even an SPF – in a convenient,
easy-to-use dispenser that people can carry with them every day. “This
is the perfect thing for salon professionals to offer their clients because
these types of products are so universal,” commented Larry Wilhelm, Custom
HBC President/Owner. “Also, they come at a very low cost to the salon
owner, so there’s not a large investment up front, and the unique nature
of the product makes it fairly easy to sell.”
The Pocket Sprayer resembles a chubby ink pen, and contains a spray delivery
system in its top. The device holds 0.15 ounces of liquid – enough to
deliver roughly 60 sprays, and each unit is refillable. The company offers
four-ounce refills, which will provide an average of 16 refills per container.
Custom HBC offers a variety of bodycare products in the Pocket Sprayers,
such as hand sanitizer, hairspray, moisturizing sprays, SPF, breath spray
and cologne. “We typically recommend salon pros start out offering the
hand sanitizer because people are more health conscious these days,” he
commented. “Our SPF is also popular with salon pros because some of their
customers don’t want to tan their faces as much.”
Perhaps one of the best features of the product is its low wholesale cost
to salon pros. Those purchasing 100 Pocket Sprayers pay $1.49 per unit,
and the suggested retail price is $2.99. Refills cost $2.31 each, with
a suggested retail price of $4.99. Larry recommends salon pros also purchase
the counter display, which holds 60 Pocket Sprayers. The basic model costs
$12.50, and the model with a custom designed header featuring the salon’s
logo and artwork goes for $15.00. “The purpose of the display is to make
a great conversation starter that will lead to a sale, and many salon
owners who offer our Pocket Sprayer products have said that it’s effective,”
Larry added.
Custom HBC is a company that specializes in private label products. This
means that salon pros can order their Pocket Sprayers imprinted with their
salon’s name, logo and phone number. “It’s really easy!” Larry exclaimed.
“All we need is a high-resolution image of their logo, and our four-color
printing process will reproduce it accurately. Salon pros who aren’t computer
savvy can simply send us a printed copy of their logo and we’ll reproduce
it.” The benefit of offering private label Pocket Sprayer is immediate
– since the product is a conversation piece in and of itself, salon pros
could get the added benefit of people talking about their business when
asking about the Pocket Sprayer.
Pocket Sprayers have only recently been introduced to the indoor tanning
industry. Before that, Custom HBC sold millions of them to the promotional
product industry. Although they’re new to tanning, many salons are already
offering the items. “We believe this will be a good fit for the indoor
tanning industry, and we make ourselves available to salon pros who have
any marketing questions or suggestions,” Larry added.
