California Tan, Inc. recently introduced its new sister company, New Tan, Inc., dba California Tan Sunless – and 12 new sunless accessory products – and this is some very good news for tanning salon pros!

By now, it’s fairly obvious to almost everyone in the indoor tanning industry that sunless tanning is no fad; many savvy salon pros have successfully integrated this option in their businesses. Always a forward-thinking company, California Tan Sunless recognizes this trend as a great compliment to UV tanning services, and wants to help its salon clients capitalize on the huge potential for both profit and market expansion.

WHY SUNLESS?
“Sunless tanning has the potential to be a $1 billion market, and it’s grown about 80 percent in the last four years,” said Wolf Heim, Vice President of Marketing for California Tan Sunless. “In the next three years, we predict sunless tanning to grow at least 25 percent. We’ve made a commitment to move forward and help fuel that growth by creating products to help salon pros increase revenue.”

WHY NOW?
Typically, most indoor tanning manufacturers, California Tan included, introduce new products in the fall at the Indoor Tanning Association World Expo. Yet, the California-based lotion maker decided to preview the latest California Tan Sunless products during a Web conference last February. “As sunless tanning options continue to evolve and become a bigger niche in the indoor tanning industry, a “sunless season” is beginning to emerge,” said Sabrina Little, California Tan Sunless Director of Communications. “While considered mid-season for UV tanning, the upcoming spring and summer months will bring many special events such as weddings and proms, and thus increase the number of ‘event tanners’ who will head to their local salons looking for instant color. Our intention is to continue to provide the best products to help salon owners make the most of these opportunities.”

So what’s new on the California Tan Sunless menu? A total of 12 new and exciting products divided into four categories – primers, self-tanners, extenders and after-tanning. “The primers are designed to prepare the skin to accept the DHA solution, allowing optimum tanning results; self-tanners are fairly self explanatory to most indoor tanning professionals,” said Tamara Hooks, California Tan Sunless Brand Manager. “Our new self-tanners are designed to be used at home for great sunless results, but they’re even better when used as a touch-up product after a sunless spray or booth session. The extenders are designed to do just that – extend the life of sunless tanning results, and we have a handful of special after-tan products that salon clients are sure to find interesting.”

FACE FIRST
While all of the new California Tan Sunless products are exciting, some stand out above the others as highly unique. One of those is the company’s new Face Perfector, an anti-aging sunless tan extender with SPF 15 to protect tanners’ faces from UV overexposure while delivering sunless tanning results with its proprietary BRONZEXTEND® Complex, as well as premium moisturizers.

THE LEGS HAVE IT
Most tanning pros know that the legs can be difficult to tan. California Tan Sunless aims to turn this obstacle into an opportunity for salon pros with its Leg Perfector product, a bronzing and firming sunless moisturizer with hair growth inhibitors.

YOU CAN FIX IT
While the majority of the new California Tan Sunless products are designed to obtain or maintain a sunless tan, one of its latest releases is designed to help “correct” it. Corrector is a revolutionary sunless stain remover system designed to correct slight mishaps that occur when DHA is over-applied to the skin. This product contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which help to loosen DHA in the top layer of the skin, and includes a correcting bar to help physically exfoliate the loosened skin and DHA stain.
