Launched on December 1, 2005, Island Sun Times’ Tanning
Treasure Instant Win Game offered hundreds of prizes from many of the
industry’s top manufacturers. The game, which ran through April 06, consisted
of scratch off instant-win game cards found in IST magazine. To win prizes
from some of the industry’s top manufacturers, all salon pros had to do
was EXACTLY match three prize symbols on their tickets since our last
printing. Five more lucky salon operators recently came forward to claim
their prizes.
Cynthia McDowell, who owns SunSeekers in Flatwoods, KY with her husband,
Rick, won Twilight Teeth’s first prize – a 12-pack of the popular teeth-whitening
kits, a retail value of $480. “I didn’t think anything of it after matching
the first two symbols, but when I got the third, I yelled out, ‘Oh my
gosh!’” Cynthia exclaimed. “We were already considering offering Twilight
Teeth at the salon, and now we have the opportunity to try it.”
Sherry Bordeux, owner of The Tannery in Hampstead, NC, was the winner
of Twilight Teeth’s second prize – a twin pack of teeth whitening kits
valued at $78. “I actually scratched it off, noticed that I won, then
forgot about it!” she laughed. “After a couple days, I remembered that
I needed to find my ticket and claim my prize.” And Sherry is glad she
did, too, because she’s looking forward to trying the popular teeth-whitening
product. “The teeth are one of the first things someone notices about
a person, so I always want mine to be white and pretty,” she confided.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Twilight Teeth, so I can’t wait
to try it.”
Kim Chelwick, an employee at Bronze FX in Columbus, OH, was glad she was
the first to open her April issue of IST. She won Twilight Teeth’s second
prize. “We’ve been playing Tanning Treasure since it started, but hadn’t
won anything,” she commented. “I happened to be the first one in the salon
to get the IST that day, so I opened it up and scratched off the ticket.
I’m very excited about winning because I’ve been wanting to try Twilight
Teeth.”
Nancy Fulk-Cassell, manager at Lux Tan in Charlotte, NC, won Twilight
Teeth’s third prize – one of its popular teeth-whitening kits. “I just
happened to be looking at an issue of IST and noticed the game ticket,
and I scratched it off and won,” she recalled. “We sell Twilight Teeth
at the salon, but I’ve never tried it. Now, I guess I’ll get a chance
to.”
No one was happier to win a Tanning Treasure prize than Dusti Goertz,
manager of Caribbean Country Tanning in Rosanky, TX. “I had been playing
Tanning Treasure ever since it started, but never won anything,” she said.
“I’ve always been a person who doesn’t have the best of luck. When I saw
my ticket in the March issue, I was debating whether I should scratch
it off or just throw it in the trash.” In the end, Dusti scratched off
her ticket and won Aztek Health and Beauty/Sun Gun’s fourth prize – a
coupon worth $25 off any of the company’s popular salon products.
The March issue of IST was the one that produced the most Tanning Treasure
winners – a total of eight salon pros claimed prizes. Lindy Downs, owner
of Sunsational Tans in Mount Pleasant, NC won The Tannie’s fourth prize
– two Tannie hair protectors. Brandy Byrd-Lavertu, owner of Ocean Rays
Tanning & Nails in Fayetteville, NC, won Twilight Teeth’s first prize
– a 12-pack of Twilight Teeth’s popular teeth-whitening kits. Shara Nolte,
manager at Boss Tanning in Champlin, MN, also claimed Twilight Teeth’s
first prize.
Michele Crow, owner of Colfax Clothing Consignment & Tan in Colfax,
IA, was another lucky March winner. She won Twilight Teeth’s second prize
– a twin pack of teeth whitening kits valued at $78. She was joined by
Kim Wiczorek, owner of Quick Tan in Monroe, NC, who won Sun Ergoline’s
fourth prize – a bottle of tanning lotion from T.W. Tan. Karen Dunham,
owner of Arizona Sun in Elyria, OH, also won Sun Ergoline’s fourth prize.
The March winners were rounded out by Nicole Makarow and Gina Rummo. Makarow,
an employee at Suburban Sun in Montclair, NJ, won The Tannie’s fourth
prize – two Tannie hair protectors. Rummo was the winner of Aztek Health
and Beauty’s fourth prize – a coupon worth $25 off any of the company’s
popular salon products.
February was good for Tanning Treasure winners – a total of six salon
pros claimed prizes. Melissa Landry, manager of Don’s Locksmith &
Tanning in Rockingham, NC, won Twilight Teeth’s second prize – a twin
pack of teeth whitening kits, valued at $78. Margaret Carroll-Bess, owner
of Tanning Emporium in Spring Lake, NC, won Twilight Teeth’s third prize
– a twin pack refill kit valued at $24 – as did Michelle Murray, manager
of Sunny Side Up Tanning in Southern Pines, NC.
Christy Wehunt, owner of Safari Tanz & Salon in Cherryville, NC won
a fourth place prize from Aztek Health & Beauty/Sun Gun – a coupon
worth $25 off any of the company’s products. Erin Hill, an employee of
The Tanning Experience in Fayetteville, NC, won Sun Ergoline’s fourth
prize – a bottle of lotion from T.W. Tan. Dianna New, owner of Ultra Tan
in Gastonia, NC, also won Sun Ergoline’s fourth prize.
February’s Tanning Treasure winners were joined by four other lucky salon
pros who won in January. Amanda Matzenbacher, manager of Maui Tanning
in Muncie, IN, won a year’s free subscription to Salon Edge 2.0 software.
Patti Crowley, owner of Sun’s Up Tanning, was the lucky winner of a fourth
place prize from Aztek Health & Beauty/Sun Gun – a coupon worth $25
off any of the company’s products. The third Tanning Treasure winner was
Adriana Coman, co-owner of Body Shades Tanning in Smirna, GA, who also
won a coupon worth $25 off any Aztek Health & Beauty/Sun Gun product.
