Have you ever thought, “Wouldn’t it be
great to watch moving pictures while you tan, instead of closing your eyes?”
Well, such a thing is no longer a dream – it’s a reality brought to the
industry by the forward-thinking minds at JK Holding GmbH. The company’s
new MULTIVISION system is a groundbreaking new comfort feature available
on Ergoline’s Excellence 800 and Evolution 600 models. MULTIVISION offers
not only TV viewing, but also a color-light therapy program for tanners
to experience, all while getting their tan. In other words, the sunbed manufacturer’s
latest development now makes tanning a treat for the eyes as well as the
skin!
The heart of the MULTIVISION unit is its 10.4-inch LCD monitor that’s positioned
above the sunbed’s shoulder tanner. Salon pros should be glad to hear that
this monitor is protected by a specially coated screen that reduces reflection
and allows for easy cleaning. To make the images visible to the tanner,
Ergoline designed the Reflex Visor – a special optical system that utilizes
mirrors to invert the image on the screen and allow it to be viewed, and
UV filters to protect tanners’ eyes.
“The design team was able to overcome many challenges to make the MULTIVISION
system a reality, and we’re very proud of it. Developing the Reflex Visor
was one example,” commented Brigitte Kratz, Director of Strategic Business
Development at JK Holding. “The UV light emitted by a tanning unit’s sunlamps
can alter the normal color of a picture screen by making everything appear
blue, so the visor was developed to direct the tanner’s eyesight into a
section outside of the tanning tunnel where all colors can be seen brightly.
In addition, we had to make sure that tanners’ eyes would be protected while
they watched the program during their session. Lastly, the size and weight
of this special optical system is very light, and is comparable in both
respects to traditional goggles being used in the industry.”
Brigitte
says MULTIVISION is available on new Ergoline Excellence 800 and Evolution
600 models. The unit allows tanners to watch whatever cable TV options are
available at the salon, as well as enjoy two different color therapy options
– one for relaxation and the other for revitalization. Also, the Excellence
and Evolution beds with MULTIVISION can still be used by tanners who do
not wish to use this feature.
Although most indoor tanning manufacturers typically choose to release new
products in the fall, Ergoline decided on June for MULTIVISION’s unveiling.
“This unit has been in use in Europe since fall 2004 and it’s enjoying great
success, so we thought why wait any longer to release it in America?” Brigitte
explained. “We wanted to give U.S. salon pros the chance to feature MULTIVISION
in their salons as soon as possible because we believe this totally new
comfort feature will excite customers and add to their tanning experience.
We also believe it will help salons differentiate themselves from their
competition by adding this offering to their services.”

After
testing in select salons across the U.S., California Tan Sunless is proud
to officially announce the release of its AutoBronzer Spray Tanning Towers.
The attractive unit features a unique spray technology that delivers a
great, full-body sunless tan while cutting down on overspray, and was
designed to be both convenient and economical for salon pros. It requires
no plumbing or air compressor connection, very little maintenance and
uses about two ounces of solution per session for optimal results, which
averages to about 400 spray sessions from five-gallons of California Tan
Sunless spray solution. These features combine to make the AutoBronzer
one of the industry’s most exciting product releases for June ‘05.
Just by looking at the AutoBronzer, tanning salon veterans can tell this
unit is unique. It’s not a booth or similarly-enclosed device, it’s an
open-air structure comprised of two “towers” – one designated “Tan” and
the other, “Dry” – connected by a platform with a wall behind everything.
“About two years of research and development went into creating this unit,
which we believe addresses the needs of tanning salon professionals interested
in offering sunless tan technology to their clients,” commented Wolf Heim,
California Tan Sunless Vice President of Marketing. “We’re very excited
about the release of the AutoBronzer, and we’re sure salon pros will be,
too.”
The key feature of the California Tan Sunless AutoBronzer is its patent-pending
Atomized Polarization Spray (APS) technology. “Our technology provides
a positive charge to the sunless solution while it’s in the reservoir;
the tanner’s body is charged negatively as they stand on two focused foot
pads during the session. This allows for about 90 percent of the sprayed
solution to efficiently transfer directly to the skin without leaving
it streaky, sticky or over-saturated. Because the particles are smaller,
they distribute more evenly and penetrate better to create longer-lasting
results.” Wolf added that the unit’s high solution-transfer rate results
in less overspray, which makes cleaning the unit between sessions a quick
and simple wipe-down process.
California Tan Sunless made sure its AutoBronzer system would be easy
for tanners to use. “Automatic voice commands lead the tanner through
the entire process,” said Wolf. “Simply pushing a button activates the
session, in which the tanner starts by facing the spray tower as a voice
counts down to its activation. Seconds later, the voice instructs the
tanner to turn around in order to have their back sprayed in the same
manner. In this position, tanners are now facing the unit’s drying tower,
which automatically delivers a soft airflow to dry any areas of the body
that might feel wet or damp.” California Tan Sunless is also happy to
announce that the entire “tan and dry” process takes a little over a minute.
The AutoBronzer is the second major California Tan Sunless release for
the 2005/06 tanning season. The company introduced 12 new products during
a February 24, 2005 Web conference, and promises to continue its commitment
to providing top-quality sunless options for tanning salon pros.
